Snowfall He was the last to leave.
Janine's business partner was still inside, waiting to go over some scheduling, and so the glass-paned double door behind Janine and Harlan glowed yellow with light from the lobby. Janine shivered, her gloved hands shoved tightly into the pockets of her puffy coat. Harlan was bundled up, too. Two Eskimos faced each other, sheltered from the light snowfall by the awning bearing the name of Janine's theatre company.
"I'm so happy you're here," she said, and then flushed, chuckling nervously. "I've said that a lot tonight, haven't I? But really, I'm so glad you came. That you're part of this."

LaundryI wouldn't be surprised
if those strong arms

Besides my usual belief in you,
I'm now convinced anything is possible
for someone who can make me
think housewife-y thoughts.
I was folding laundry yesterday.
It was dull and unpoetical, as laundry tends to be.
And suddenly I smiled.
My heart fluttered.
And I laughed.
I realized I had been daydreaming
about doing this for you –
about holding your shirts and socks, warm from the dryer,
to my chest, folding them, tucking them away.
Not from fifties mousy fear,
nor a sense of supposed female obligation,

Forgetting TimeI want to travel the world.

Sometimes I wonder why exactly I want to do it so much, why I can’t just graduate from school, get a job, work, do regular stuff, work some more and have a calm and comfortable life. I like calm and comfortable. So why does the thought of me living a life like that make me want to throw up?

I think maybe I want to explore the world because somewhere inside I know that it will lead me to a greater understanding of myself. It’s inevitable that it will.

Think of the basic laws of alchemy: As above, so below. As within, so without.
